Continuing Care Retirement Communities, or CCRCs, are becoming an increasingly popular option for active adults who are living independent lifestyles, but who want the security and peace of mind of support systems, when needed, throughout the aging process. We offer a combination of residential accommodations, wellness and care services and other amenities.
Members at other communities commonly pay an entry fee to join the community. At The Peninsula Regent, an entry fee is not required; instead you become a member by purchasing a home within the community. Monthly maintenance fees thereafter provide for amenities such as meals, housekeeping, security, maintenance and transportation to outside community events.
What are the advantages of a CCRC?
The key advantage of a CCRC is that you have the opportunity to live independently, with the freedom to maintain your lifestyle, pursue your interests, and participate in a wealth of activities. However, during those times when you do need a little help, you have the peace of mind of having immediate access to a range of health services. Some, but not all, CCRCs also offer significant financial advantages, including the possibility of home ownership and equity preservation.
Beyond the obvious advantages, there are a number of other benefits that make CCRCs an excellent choice for many seniors:
- Dining service
- Sense of community
- Housekeeping and linen service
- Luxury accommodations and amenities
- Cultural, recreational, educational and social programs
- Transportation services
- Fitness and Wellness programs
- 24-Hour Security Services
- Freedom to travel
- Time to do those things you want to do
How can I determine if a CCRC is right for me?
No two people’s needs are exactly the same. Many factors, including income and personal preferences, make each situation unique. However, people who choose CCRCs usually have some basic things in common:
- Are in good health and enjoy an active, healthy lifestyle
- Wish to maintain their freedom, privacy and independence
- Take a proactive approach to aging (click here to learn more about this approach from our members)
- Want to simplify their lives and free themselves of home maintenance responsibilities and daily chores
- Enjoy a stimulating environment and opportunities for socializing
- Desire the peace of mind of on-site health care
- Want to maintain financial benefits of home ownership and protect equity
- Don’t wish to burden family members with caretaking responsibilities
